MANILA — With the surge of cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines, showbiz personalities have not been spared.

A number announced testing positive for the disease, while others had belated confirmations after their deaths.

Recoveries among them, too, have fortunately been counted, including an instance of a subsequent test resulting negative.

Here's a list of showbiz personalities who confirmed positive for COVID-19, with updates on their status as new details come in:

CHRISTOPHER DE LEON, 63

• Announced being positive on March 17
• Recovered and discharged from hospital, according to a March 24 announcement
• Announced testing negative on April 13

• Died on March 26
• Confirmed positive on March 31

IZA CALZADO, 37

• Announced being positive on March 28, after being hospitalized for pneumonia
• Tested negative in a confirmatory test, according to a March 30 announcement

• Announced testing positive, along with her husband Art Atayde, on March 31
• Was cleared of pneumonia, along with Atayde, on April 8
• Announced testing negative on April 14

• Reported recovery in same announcement
