MANILA – Veteran actor Christopher de Leon has tested negative for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) more than three weeks after catching the respiratory illness.

De Leon's wife Sandy Andolong made the announcement through a post on her Instagram Story on Monday night.

De Leon announced last March 17 that he tested positive for COVID-19, amid a pandemic that has put the Philippines under a state of calamity and the entire Luzon in lockdown.

One week later, the 63-year-old actor was discharged from the hospital and underwent home quarantine, his manager Lolit Solis confirmed to ABS-CBN News on March 24.
