The Philippines returned to its medal-winning ways in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Friday, when Meggie Ochoa took home a bronze in women’s jiu-jitsu and a pair of pencak-silat practitioners assured at least two more medals that’ll become official over the weekend.

Dines Dumaan and Jefferson Rhey Loon advanced to the semifinals on Sunday, where victories in their respective bouts mean a spot in the gold-medal game in pencak silat, a martial arts that are indigenous to Indonesia.

If Dumaan and Loon lose, they'll still go home with a bronze each.

Ochoa's bronze was the sixth by the Philippines following a pair of third-place finishes in wushu and three more in taekwondo.

Besides those, Hidilyn Diaz's gold is the only other medal by the national contingent.

Carlos Yulo was considered a medal favorite, but after falling short in the floor exercise final on Thursday he bowed out too in the vault competition Friday.

In boxing, Joel Bacho and Nesthy Petecio were shown the exit, leaving just 6 fighters to carry the country’s hopes in a sport long considered to be a source of international pride.

In golf, Weiwei Gao of Cebu finished in a tie for third halfway through the men’s individual competition, raising hopes of a podium finish there.

Gao shot a 5-under 67 on the day to bring up his 2-round total to 139, 3 shots off leader Keita Nakajima of Japan.

In other sports, weightlifter Elreen Ann Ando placed fourth in the women’s -63 kilograms competition, while in bowling the team of 6 led by long-time national player Liza del Rosario also finished fourth.
