First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has admitted in an interview that her relationship with Vice President Sara Duterte has soured after the latter’s family accused President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of using narcotics.

In the full interview posted on radio and TV personality Anthony Taberna's YouTube page "TUNE In Kay Tunying," the First Lady said she was hurt when the Vice President attended a rally where her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, accused Marcos Jr. of being "bangag" or high on narcotics. 

She noted the Vice President attended Marcos Jr's rally before going to the rally in Davao City.

"When she went to Davao, (Rodrigo) Duterte said o 'bangag, bangag di ba.' Imagine a former president calling ano bangag. Wow 'yung 6 years why would you call ano bangag di ba and then the camera panned on her tumatawa," he added.

The First Lady admitted she was hurt by the incident, noting the former president even insinuated that her son, Senior Deputy House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, wanted to become prime minister. 

"So syempre nakita ko, sabi ko, wow man, I mean masakit 'yan.  And then ano (Rodrigo) Duterte sabi si Sandro, 'yan gusto maging prime minister. Pero tumawa sila so parang for me ano yan? Mali yata yan. Parang you're getting sweldo from the government. You're supposed to be the alter ego, we're there protecting tapos gagawin mo 'yan. Mali 'yan eh. You crossed the line." she added.

I think that's wrong, it's like you're getting your salary from the government. You're supposed to be the alter ego. We are there protecting and then you'll do that. That's wrong. 'We are okay': Sara Duterte says no problems with Marcos

“For me, nasaktan ako because my husband will do everything to protect you. You ran together ‘di ba—sama sama tayong babangon muli,” she told Taberna.

(I was hurt because my husband will do everything to protect you. You ran together during the elections, right—we will rise again together.)

“Pupunta ka sa rally, tatawagin ‘yung Presidente mong ‘bangag,’ ‘di ba, you’re going to laugh? Tama ba ‘yan? Even Leni [Robredo] never did that,” she added.

(You went to a rally, then the President gets called bangag, and then you’re going to laugh? Is that right? Even Leni [Robredo] never did that.)

Taberna then asked if she ever received any apology from the Vice President.

"Bad shot na 'yan sa akin, unless she says sorry or whatever. She crossed the line," the First Lady said.

The full interview, which can be seen on Taberna's page, is said to have only been the 4th time that the First Lady did a public interview.

PRES AND VP

President Marcos and the Vice President on Friday both attended the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) commencement exercises. 

After he was accorded with arrival honors, President Marcos walked towards Duterte and gave her an air kiss or beso. The two then walked together towards the stage and sat beside each other during the event.

During the program, the two were seen conversing and laughing with each other.

After the graduation ceremony in Cavite, the members of the media tried to interview the two officials separately, but both declined.

When approached by the media, Duterte only smiled and blew a kiss.

'BRING IT ON'

In the interview, the First Lady kept mum when asked if her sister-in-law, Senator Imee Marcos, would have stood up to defend the President. The senator is known to be friends with Vice President Sara Duterte.

"Maybe you should ask her... I know what line not to cross," the First Lady said.

Asked if she and Senator Imee are on speaking terms, the First Lady said the Marcoses always have a family lunch every Sunday.

"Once nga, my mother-in-law (former First Lady Imelda Marcos) said 'Hija, hindi mo iniimbita si Imee sa mga ano?' 'Mom, ako pa. May group chat kami, lahat sila nand'yan but she's always invited," she said.

She added that she last had a civil conversation with Senator Marcos during Christmas.

In the interview, the First Lady debunked rumors that she and Marcos are in an abusive relationship.

"Noon, may nagsabi sa akin one time na sinuntok daw niya ako. Sabi ko: 'Ah?'  O ako raw 'yung nagsuntok. Jusko, para namang liwayway movie 'yan ah. For me to hit my husband, my God, that will be the day," she said.

"I don't shout, I don't make mura, I don't hurt my husband. Pero if ayaw kita, hindi kita kakausapin," she added.

Marcos also addressed rumors that she is a controlling wife, saying she never once attended any Cabinet meetings.

"Tanungin mo sa isang Cabinet secretary kung nag-attend ako ng meeting? I think the only time was when Bong was inaugurated in July, and his birthday was September eh wala naman ako alam di ba? I stayed for one minute and said hi to everyone and inviteD them all. I said: 'Hi everyone. I just want to invite you to Bong's birthday. It's a surprise. Pero ako ang nahiya, umalis na rin ako. That's the first and  last time. Does that look as a Mrs. President to you?" she said.

"There's so many changes in my life that I did for him and for me na mabatikos? Siya for 30 years kung ano (rumors binato sa kanya) eh 1500 days na lang to go, kayang kaya pa 'yan," she added.

 When asked if she had any influence with who to appoint in a government position she said: "Dahan-dahan sila. If I'm in charge, lahat sila patay."

 She also denied rumors that she had anything to do with the suspension of Davao Del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib.

 "Do I even know that governor? I am the worst politician. Even Bong calls me the ambassador of bad will," she said.

"Why honey?' Kasi yung mayor... yung pangalan mismo, I get it wrong. You know, politics, you have to like it, eh. You have to make bola. Hindi ako ganoon, eh," she added.

Asked for her message to some of their critics, she said: "Me, bring it on honey. You are the size of your enemy. You're not my enemy, like I said. I would never stoop to that level."
