Ryu Jun-yeol, left, and Han So-hee. Photos from actors' respective Instagram accountsSouth Korean actors Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol have broken up, two weeks after going public with their relationship that became the subject of controversy, according to a report.

The split was announced Saturday by Jun-yeol's agency C-JeS Studios, English-language publication the Korea JoongAng Daily reported.

"It is true that they've broken up," C-JeS Studios was quoted as saying in the report.

The relationship reportedly became a subject of scrutiny among South Koreans, with the two celebrities being accused of "hwanseung yeonae" or "transferring between dating partners."

The term is used to describe a situation in which one romantic partner moves on to another with no or minimal time between his past and new relationship, likening the act to transferring between buses or trains during commute, the Korea Herald explained in a March 21 article.

In this case, So-hee and Jun-yeol were suspected of "transfer dating" due to the latter's previous relationship with fellow actor and singer Hyeri, which lasted for around seven years. Jun-yeol and Hyeri's breakup was made public in November though So-hee has reportedly claimed that the two separated months earlier.

Earlier this month, So-hee admitted that she was in a relationship with Jun-yeol after the two were spotted vacationing together in Hawaii, sparking dating rumors. She has repeatedly denied that their relationship was a case of "transfer dating."

Prior to So-hee's confirmation, Hyeri made a cryptic post on her Instagram Stories that social media users believed was directed at the two.

Jun-yeol and Hyeri co-starred in the hit family drama "Reply 1988" in 2015. Meanwhile, So-hee is known for starring in series such as "The World of the Married" and "Gyeongseong Creature."
