Lee Hyeri apologized Monday following the recent controversy involving her ex-boyfriend Ryu Jun-yeol and fellow actress Han So-hee.

"I sincerely apologize for the speculations and controversies that arose over the past few days due to my personal emotions," Hyeri wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, which was translated into English by Korean entertainment news portal Soompi.

"I think I failed to consider the ripple effects that each of my minor actions could have. I sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed because of me," she said.

Last Friday, Hyeri made a cryptic post on Instagram Stories after dating rumors involving Jun-yeol and So-hee surfaced. So-hee made a similarly vague Instagram Stories post, leading social media users to speculate that it was a response to Hyeri's post.

'Reply 1988' stars Hyeri, Ryu Jun-yeol break up

On Saturday, So-hee confirmed that she was dating Jun-yeol, but noted that she began doing so in early 2024 when he had already broken up with Hyeri.

In her post, Hyeri explained that after the news of her breakup came out last November, "we had a conversation about talking more [about our situation]." She did not give a name but it appears that she was referring to Jun-yeol.

"However, we have not had any contact or met since that conversation," she said.

Hyeri also apologized for causing "confusion for anyone" and "harm with my impulsive emotions."

Also on Monday, Korean media outlet Dispatch published photos of Jun-yeol and So-hee from their recent Hawaii trip, which sparked last week's dating rumors.

Hyeri and Jun-yeol both starred in the hit drama "Reply 1988" in 2015. The pair went public with their relationship in 2017 and announced their split in November 2023.
