From 'Squid Game' to 'Sweet Home': K-content coming to Netflix this 2024

Get ready, Hallyu fans! 

Netflix announced Tuesday that a slew of content from South Korea is coming to the platform this 2024, including new seasons of beloved series, films that draw from various genres, and entertaining reality shows. 

"This year, our K-content lineup delivers a diverse array of titles that capture the true essence of Korean storytellers," said Don Kang, Vice President of Content (Korea) at Netflix.

"Whether it’s series, films, or innovative unscripted shows, we’ll share unforgettable experiences with entertainment fans worldwide and unmissable titles," he added.

First, second quarter

Among the offerings for the first quarter is "My Name is Loh Kiwan," a film featuring Song Joong-ki as a North Korean defector who seeks refugee status in Belgium.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won are set to star in the series "Queen of Tears," about a married couple facing a crisis.

The first quarter will also see a new season of "Physical: 100," which previously followed a group of competitors in a series of challenges that tested their physical strength and endurance.

During the second quarter, fans can anticipate the third season of the apocalyptic horror series "Sweet Home," which will present "a world where monsterization ends and new humanity begins."

Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, Lee Si-young, Lee Do-hyun, Go Min-si, Park Gyu-young and Jung Jin-young are expected to return for the upcoming season.

Go Youn-jung, who also starred in "Sweet Home," is set to lead the cast of "Resident Playbook," a spin-off of the medical drama "Hospital Playlist."

Also arriving on the platform is "Super Rich in Korea," which follows the real-life stories of billionaires living in South Korea. It will be hosted by comedian Cho Sae-ho, and K-pop stars BamBam of GOT7 and Mimi of Oh My Girl.

Third, fourth quarter

The second season of the thriller series "Gyeongseong Creature" is scheduled to premiere in the third quarter.

The new season transports Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee from 1945 to present-day Seoul. They will be joined new cast members Lee Moo-saeng from "The World of the Married" and Bae Hyun-sung from "Our Blues."

Also dropping in the third quarter is the film "Officer Black Belt," in which Kim Woo-bin plays a martial arts expert who is asked to help law enforcers fight crime.

Meanwhile, the fourth quarter will see the return of the hit dating show "Single's Inferno," zombie-themed reality program "Zombieverse," and apocalyptic horror series "Hellbound."

Viewers can also look forward to new shows like "Mr. Plankton," which pairs Woo Do-hwan of "Joseon Attorney" and Lee Yu-mi of "Squid Game."

Also coming in the fourth quarter is "The Great Flood," a sci-fi disaster film about a desperate attempt to save a child from a flooding apartment after a great flood swept the planet. It stars Kim Da-mi of "Our Beloved Summer" and Park Hae-soo of "Squid Game."

Fans can also expect the second season of Netflix's hit survival drama "Squid Game" this year, although the streamer has yet to reveal the exact premiere date.

The powerhouse cast for the new season features returning actors Lee Jung-jae, Wi Ha-jun, Lee Byung-hun and Gong Yoo (in a special appearance) alongside fresh faces that include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Choi Seung-hyun (formerly T.O.P) and Jo Yu-ri.
