MANILA (2ND UPDATE) - In the end, it was the 16-year-old with the haunting raspy voice who took home the title.

Cebu's Janine Berdin was named grand winner of this season's "Tawag ng Tanghalan" on "It's Showtime" Saturday, taking home a P2-million cash prize, a management contract and a house and lot among others at the finale held at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

Berdin earned the highest number of combined judges' scores and text votes (96.11 percent), defeating Ato Arman (74.27 percent) and Steven Paysu (61.80 percent) who finished second and third, respectively.

Earlier in the competition, Berdin sang the 1989 hit OPM song "Nosi Ba Lasi" to secure her spot in the top three.

She later sang a medley of rockstar Bamboo's hits "Tatsulok," "Hallelujah," and "Noypi" to bag the championship.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News following the competition, Berdin thanked her supporters and expressed joy in reaching her dream.

"Sobrang overwhelmed po ako kasi pangarap ko po ito, passion ko po. Super blessed po ako sa lahat ng sumusuporta tsaka naniniwala sakin," she said.

(I am so overwhelmed because this is my dream and passion. I am super blessed with all my supporters and all those who believe in me.)

"Hindi ko po ito maaabot kung wala po kayo kaya maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyo," she told her fans.

(I will not be here if not for the support so thank you.)

A fan of KZ Tandingan, Berdin had previously made "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda cry when she performed "With a Smile."

Berdin is no stranger to artist searches and singing competitions.

She initially tried to join season 1 of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" but with no luck. She also tried joining "The Voice Kids Philippines" and "Star Circle Quest: Search for the Next Kiddie Superstars 4" where she finished as a semifinalist.
