MANILA --Meralco said about 19,000 of its customers lost their power during the onslaught of tropical storm Enteng.

The power distributor said most of those affected were in Metro Manila and Cavite, while the rest were in Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Batangas, and Quezon province.

Meralco said its personnel were working to restore power service to affected areas as soon as possible, as it encouraged the public to stay safe.

"We continue to monitor the situation and urge our customers to practice electrical safety,” Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday said two people have been reported dead as tropical storm Enteng battered the country.

Many roads have also been declared impassable due to the rains. Some flights and sea travel have likewise been cancelled.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said Enteng was over Quirino province after making landfall in Casiguran, Aurora.
