Christian Standhardinger could play a part in what coach Leo Austria describes as "triple towers" when the Fil-German big man joins his San Miguel Beer teammates in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Beermen already have 6-foot-11 June Mar Fajardo and will be reinforced by 6-foot-9 import Troy Gillenwater.

The 6-foot-7 Standhardinger completes the triple threat expected to give the rest of the league a headache.

Austria said he could use all 3 of them at the same time, but not all the time.

“Very flexible naman ang team namin. Si Christian naman, ganu'n din flexible din. Everybody in the team has a role to do. It will depend on the kind of opponent that we have,” the champion coach said during the team's victory party at the San Miguel Corp. head office in Ortigas.

“Although lagi ko namang ginagamit ang 2 bigs, this time malamang magti-three bigs ako.”

But Austria, who steered the Beermen to their historic fourth straight all-Filipino championship against Magnolia, said they will still have to wait for Standhardinger’s arrival since the Fil-German still has a commitment with Hong Kong Eastern basketball team in the ASEAN Basketball League.

If Hong Kong makes it to the ABL finals, then Standhardinger might join San Miguel much later.

“We don’t really know yet kung kelan siya makakarating dito,” said the San Miguel coach. “Unless hindi sila umabot sa finals, makakaabot siya (sa opening) pero sa pinapakita ng team nila pwede silang pumasok ng finals.”

The PBA Commissioner’s Cup will begin on April 22.
