After putting up impressive numbers in San Miguel Beer’s title series with Magnolia in the PBA Philippine Cup, Marcio Lassiter looks ready to join the national team again.

The sweet-shooting Beerman played a major role in the team’s historic all-Filipino title run, averaging 19 points, including 3.2 triples per game.

In Game 5 where they closed the Hotshots in two overtimes, he came through despite cramps and conspired with June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos in finishing off Magnolia.

“I’m always willing and hoping to play,” was his response when asked about a possible call-up from Gilas coach Chot Reyes.

“For the national team I know how important it is to have great players so it’s very humbling and I would definitely be honored to be named for Gilas.”

Lassiter has been interested to wear the national colors, but the league carried out a “one-player-per-team” rule, which barred him from joining Gilas since San Miguel was already represented by prized big man Fajardo.

But the PBA recently voided the rule, thereby opening Lassiter’s possible return to Gilas.

Now all he is waiting for is a phone call.

Meanwhile, Lassiter described being part of the Beermen’s historic 4-peat title win in the all-Filipino conference as a “humbling experience.”

“It’s definitely an honor and a humbling experience to be able to achieve this feat,” he said.

Lassiter said the secret to their success perhaps is that their teammates have always treated each other as family.

“I feel like our team’s got great chemistry and that’s why we’re able to feed (off) our brotherhood and the players are like a family to us so. It’s history and it’s a great thing to have,” he said.
