MANILA - The unemployment rate was little changed at 5.6 percent in July from 5.7 percent in April, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed.

Underemployment was also steady during the same comparative period to 16.3 percent from 16.1 percent. The employment rate was at 94.4 percent compared to 94.3 percent in the previous study.

A separate study by Social Weather Stations in June showed job optimism was "very high" as the unemployment rate edged down to 22.2 percent in June from 22.9 percent in March.
