Pasig City Mayor-elect Vico Sotto said Sunday he hoped the public would look past the memes generated by his election victory and see his sincerity.

The lanky 29-year-old politician's victory embrace with his mother, Coney Reyes, drew comparisons with the actress' role in "Four Sisters and a Wedding," where her character parried allegations she played favorites among her children.

Asked if he was worried that he would be tagged as a "mama's boy" over the photos, Sotto said, "Alam ko naman po iyung katotohanan. Hindi naman po."

(I know the truth. That's not the case.)

"Nothing beats sincerity po siguro. Ako naman, hindi ako iyung nagkukunwari. Dapat sincere lang tayo, hindi iyung parang ibang politiko na puro image iniisip," he told radio DZMM.

(I don't pretend. We're just sincere, unlike other politicians who just think about their image.)

The mayor-elect also said his father, television host Vic Sotto, had no plans to run for public office.

"Mas masaya siya sa private life. Sabi niya, nakakatulong naman s'ya sa tao kahit hindi s'ya tumakbo," he said.

(He's happier with a private life. He said he can help the public anyway even if he does not run.)
