Filipino driver Zach David is back in the top 10 after he picked up back-to-back podiums at the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC).

Race 2’s victory proved to be more hard-fought for the Filipino racer as he mounted multiple challenges to move up from P7 to P3.

David was quick to move up to P6 in the early minutes of the race. He advanced to P5 about halfway in, when race leader Bruno Del Pino crashed into the barriers due to a suspension failure.

Coming in hot from the inside, David successfully moved to P4 past James Wharton. He attempted the same inside attack on Nikhil Bohra for P3, but the attempt was spoiled.

“The start was quite alright. We moved up one position already, and then it was quite a tough battle to overtake the other cars and eventually we got them. Then we finished P3 so quite happy about that,” he said in a post-race interview.

Race 3 was comparatively more relaxed for David in terms of attack, but it had him in full defense mode of his P3 qualifying result.

David got wheel-to-wheel against Mari Boya, but the Filipino driver fought well and stayed on P4 right before the race was put under a yellow flag which prohibited overtaking.

He maintained his P3 until the end, and after the three races this weekend, took home a sum of 42 championship points.

After falling off the top 10 after round 3, David got back in the leadership standings at seventh place with 74 points.

FRMEC’s last three races will take place on Feb. 17-18 at the Dubai Autodrome Circuit.
