MANILA — After previously deciding to leave San Beda High to play for the University of the Philippines in the UAAP, Chris Hubilla has decided to stay in the NCAA.

It will not be with the Red Lions, however, as the 6-foot-4 wingman will instead head to Intramuros and suit up for Colegio de San Juan De Letran, sources told ABS-CBN News.

Hubilla, who was a part of the Red Cubs’ Final Four finish in Season 98, initially committed to UP even before he concluded his senior high studies.

The outgoing Grade 12 student actually played for the Fighting Maroons, but only with State U’s teams that competed in PinoyLiga since he was still eligible to make UP’s Season 86 roster.

This means that the 21-year-old Hubilla, who averaged 20.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals in Season 98, does not need to serve residency and will be expected to lace his kicks for Letran in the NCAA’s centennial season.

Hubilla joins the likes of Perpetual’s Mark Omega, Mapua’s Ryle Rosillo, and other players who recently moved to Muralla to commit to the Knights.

UAAP: Top high school star Jared Bahay commits to UP

In addition, he is the second UP-commit this UAAP men’s basketball off-season who opted to not push through with their previous decision, with the first one being Jared Bahay who is now expected to be the lead guard of the Ateneo de Manila University.

Jared Bahay recruitment saga will be a 'lesson' for UP: Perasol

Aside from their stellar showing in their respective highschool leagues, both prospects also balled out during the 2023 NBTC and the 2023 Slam Rising Stars Classic.
