With 4 impressive wins in a row — 3 of them happening in 2017 — Kevin “the Silencer” Belingon has been chosen as one of the most outstanding fighters of the year by ONE Championship.

Since losing to reigning ONE bantamweight champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes in January 2016, Belingon has plowed through the opposition.

It began with a thorough domination of Tajikistan’s highly touted Muin Gafurov in October 2016, followed by a complete first-round annihilation of Finnish submission wizard Toni “Dynamite” Tauru in Manila in April.

Those two wins earned Belingon a showdown with bantamweight contender Reece “Lightning” McLaren in Malaysia in August. Belingon needed just 62 seconds to drop McLaren with a well-placed overhand right.

Last month, Belingon defeated Korean-American contender Kevin “Old Boy” Chung via unanimous decision.

With these performances, he was chosen as the third best fighter in ONE Championship in 2017. Belingon also guaranteed himself a title rematch against Fernandes in 2018.

Others in ONE Championship’s top 5 list are: Australia’s Martin Nguyen (1st), Brazil’s Alex “Little Rock” Silva (2nd), Singapore’s Christian Lee (4th) and “Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang (5th).
