Kevin Belingon struck fast to score a stoppage victory over fellow ONE bantamweight contender Fil-Aussie Reece McLaren at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur.

Belingon and McLaren immediately mixed it up in the opening round in the main card of ONE: Quest for Greatness.

The Team Lakay stalwart got the upper hand in the exchange with a stunning counter right hand that dropped McLaren.

Belingon chased McLaren to the ground and went for the win. The bout officially ended 1:02 in Round 1.

With the victory, Belingon sets him on course for another shot at ONE bantamweight king Bibiano Fernandes, who beat him in January 2016.

Filipino flyweight Rene Catalan also scored a victory by outpointing China’s Bu Huo You Ga.

Catalan was the busier fighter in his unanimous-decision win over Bu, despite getting into serious trouble late in the final round.

Catalan’s brother, Robin, was not as lucky as he succumbed to a stoppage loss to former ONE strawweight champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke.

Team Lakay’s Edward Kelly also saw his 3-fight win streak end after being outpointed by Emilio Urrutia of the United States.

In the main event, Martin Nguyen of Australia upset previously unbeaten Russian champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov via knockout within two rounds to clinch the ONE featherweight title.
