Former World 9 Ball champion Carlo Biado fell short in his pursuit of the WPA Players Championship after bowing to Taiwan's Kevin Cheng at Griff Billiards in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).

Cheng pulled off a come-from-behind victory against the Filipino after trailing Biado in the early part of the match.

Prior to meeting Cheng, Biado hurdled Taiwan's Chang Yu Lung in the semifinals 9-6.

Cheng beat Filipino Johann Chua in the other semis pairing to set his titular faceoff with Biado.

Before making it to Round of 16, Biado took down another Taiwanese, Yang Ching Shun, 8-6.

Then he met the USA’s Shane Van Boening in the quarterfinals, beating the American with a convincing 7-4 win.

Biado will get a chance at redemption next week at the US Open also in Las Vegas. -- With a report from TJ Manotoc, ABS-CBN News
