Don't be surprised if Manny Pacquiao fights in an exhibition match soon. Wendel Alinea, MP Promotions

Japanese promoter Rizin Fighting Federation has agreed to a deal with Manny Pacquiao for a kickboxing match on April 21, according to an online report.

Pacquiao won’t be the one fighting, though.

According to the Japan Times, Pacquiao is fielding Filipino fighter Fritz Biagtan against Japan’s Tenshin Nasukawa.

Nasukawa is the same fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat during a Rizin-promoted exhibition match last New Year’s Eve.

With the deal, Pacquiao is hoping to give Pinoy fighters a chance to contend for bigger promoters.

Rizin CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara said the partnership won’t end there. He acknowledged that Rizin is eyeing an event for Pacquiao similar to Mayweather vs. Nasukawa.

If Pacquiao competes for Rizin, Sakakibara said he will suggest MMA star Takanori Gomi as a potential opponent Pacquiao.

“I heard (Gomi) has said, ‘I’d love to fight against Pacquiao,’ ” Sakakibara said.
