MANILA — On her birthday, embattled Mayor Alice Guo took to social media to thank her constituents for their support amid the issues she is currently facing.

Guo, who has been suspended following the Senate investigation into her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO) in her town, took to Facebook to express her gratitude to town residents.

In a lengthy post, Guo said that although she does not regret entering politics, she is hurt by everything that is happening.

"The answer is hindi…pero nasaktan ako ng husto nang politika. I almost lost myself…" she wrote.

She then listed all the groups and individuals she wanted to thank, including her constituents, the members of her municipal council, and barangay officials.

She also thanked those in the education sector, including the students, as well as the teachers and school heads in Bamban.

Guo likewise expressed her gratitude to members of other sectors, including the senior citizens, businessmen, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, farmers, public utility vehicle drivers, and the religious community, among others.

The suspended mayor, who turned 38 on July 12, also apologized for those who has been involved in the issues surrounding her, as she reminded everyone to stop spreading false information.

“Humihingi po ako ng paumanhin sa mga taong nadamay at pilit na idinadamay. Ako po ay nakikiusap din to stop spreading false information,” she wrote.

“Ako po ay isang Filipino, at may malaking puso for Bamban…at mahal na mahal ko ang Pilipinas. Always remember ka Bamban, challenging but will never give up. Everything is temporary!” Guo added.

The Senate is currently investigating Guo’s alleged involvement in illegal offshore gaming operations, following the raid of a POGO hub in Bamban.

On Thursday, the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) on Thursday announced it has secured a freeze order from the Court of Appeals for the assets of individuals and companies allegedly involved in illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier said he expects the Senate arrest order against Guo to be issued Friday or Monday.

He insisted that the issue of Guo’s identity has already been settled especially after a high-ranking official of Grace Christian High School, which is now Grace Christian College in Quezon City, confirmed to his office that the Chinese Guo Hua Ping was their former student from 2000 to 2003. Hua Ping and Guo are alleged to be the same person.

The Senate is still deciding if they will invite an official of the school to the next hearing.
