MANILA — Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo on Monday said she is seeking reelection in the upcoming 2025 elections.

Guo, who is being investigated by the Senate for her alleged ties to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in her town, also said she has no intention to resign from her post.

“Hindi po. Wala po akong…hindi po ako magreresign. I will continue serving my constituents,” she said.

Guo also said she will seek reelection, and will bank on the support of her constituents.

“I don’t treat naman po na may kaaway, kasi ako naman ay bago lang po, neophyte na politician. I don’t even consider myself po as politician. Ang sabi ko po lagi sa sarili ko, ako po ay public servant,” she said.

“Mayroon din po akong calling po. Sana po ‘yung mga malalaking politicians, kung mayroon po silang mga issues, kung mayroon po silang mga misunderstandings po, ‘wag na po nila ako idamay,” Guo added.

Guo was elected mayor of Bamban in 2022, after getting less than 500 votes more than her opponent, Joey Salting.

Salting is now the captain of Brgy. Anupul and ex-officio Board Member of Tarlac province.

Bamban had a total of 45,008 registered voters in 2022, based on data from the Comelec and the ABS-CBN Investigative and Research Group.

Aside from her alleged POGO ties, the Senate is also looking into Guo’s citizenship.

A copy of her Certificate of Candidacy (COC), earlier sent by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, the mayor's full name was indicated as "Alice Leal Guo", "35 years old", with residence/address in "Bamban, Tarlac", where she is also a registered voter.

On the lower portion of the document, Guo certified some clauses including "I am a Filipino citizen", "I am not a permanent resident of, or an immigrant to, a foreign country", and "I executed a sworn renunciation of foreign citizenship (if applicable)".

In her Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE), Guo said she spent more than P134,000 for her campaign.

She did not declare any contributions from a political party or other sources, especially since she ran as an independent candidate.
