MANILA - Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo responded to reports that she will be deported, insisting that she is a Filipino citizen.

“Doon po sa nabalitaan ko po, nakita ko po sa news, na idedeport po ako, hindi ko po alam saan ako dadalhin. ‘Yung sarili kong bansa, ‘yung sarili kong bansa po ba, iiwanan rin ako, tatalikuran rin ako? Saan po ako pupunta? Isa lang po passport ko. Filipino po ako. Ako po ay isang Philippine passport holder, at ako po ay isang Filipino,” she said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News' Karen Davila.

(I've seen reports that I am going to be deported, but I don't know where they will bring me. My own country, will my own country turn its back on me? Where will I go? I only have one passport. I am Filipino. I am a Philippine passport holder, and I am a Filipino.)

Guo also said she does not understand why there are some people calling for her deportation.

“Marami po ako nabalitaan ide-deport daw po ako. Yung sarili kong ina, iniwanan ako. Ngayon sarili ko bang bansa tatalikuran ako. Idedeport po ako, saan ako idedeport? Malaysia, China, Singapore? Isa lang po ang passport ko, ako po ay isang Pilipino,” she explained.

(There are a lot of reports saying I will be deported. I was abandoned by my own mother. Now, will my own country abandon me as well? Where will I be deported? Malaysia, China, Singapore? I only have one passport, I am a Filipino.)

Guo, in the same interview, reaffirmed her Filipino citizenship.

“Ako po ay isang Filipino. Ang nanay ko po, ang biological mother ko po ay isang Filipino,” she said.

She also denied she is a “spy” of China.

"Ang gusto kong sabihin sa lahat ng publiko, hindi po ako spy. Ako po ay isang Pilipino. Mahal ko ang sarili kong bansa... Hindi po ako asset," Guo said.

(What I want to tell the public is that I am not a Chinese spy. I am a Filipino. I love my own country. I am not an asset.)

Guo became controversial after being linked to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO), and for allegedly having questionable citizenship.

But in a copy of her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) earlier sent by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, the mayor's full name was indicated as "Alice Leal Guo", "35 years old", with residence/address in "Bamban, Tarlac", where she is also a registered voter.
