MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Saturday led an aerial inspection to ascertain the damage caused by super typhoon Carina as well as the extent of the oil spill from sunken tanker MV Terranova.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Marcos flew over Pampanga, Bulacan, and Bataan, where the oil tanker carrying 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel was submerged.

Based on the Philippine Space Agency's map released Friday, the possible oil spill may reach an area of around 14.4 square kilometers. 

Photo courtesy of the PCOMeanwhile, Marcos also led the DSWD's distribution of relief goods to victims of typhoon Carina staying at an evacuation center in San Mateo, Rizal.

The Philippine National Police on Friday said the death toll from the monsoon rains intensified by typhoon Carina was at 34.
