(UPDATED) Several local government units have suspended classes on Wednesday, July 24, due to heavy rains and inclement weather brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

The southwest monsoon is being enhanced by Typhoon Carina and is forecast to bring moderate to intense rains over various areas in the western portion of Luzon from Tuesday through Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The following areas canceled classes on Wednesday.

ALL LEVELS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE

Caloocan City

Navotas

Parañaque

Muntinlupa

San Juan

Cavite

Bataan

Baguio City

Laguna

Pangasinan

- Manaoag (pre-school to senior high school, public and private)
