In a letter of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) dated May 22, the agency cited Lucky South’s possible connection with an illegal POGO in Bamban, Tarlac that was raided and closed down this year.

“During the Senate’s hearing on May 7, 2024, conducted before the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, it was found that numerous companies including Lucky South are involved in illegal operations in Zun Yuan Technology Inc.’s premises in Baofu Compound, Bamban, Tarlac as evidenced by papers and documents found by the authorities in the site,” the letter signed by PAGCOR Assistant Vice President Jessa Mariz Fernandez said.

Hence, PAGCOR denied the application for a license and ordered the said POGO to ensure that it is “not involved in any internet gaming operations.”

On June 4, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies raided the Lucky South 99 compound, which is believed to be three times bigger than the Baofu Compound in Bamban where two illegal POGOs used to operate.
