Lacuna pays tribute to fallen heroes in commemoration of Battle for Manila

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna led the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Battle for Manila in a ceremony held at Plazuela de Santa Isabel, Intramuros, paying solemn tribute to the fallen heroes through a wreath-laying ceremony. 

The event was also attended by United States Ambassador to the Philippines Marykay Carlson, underscoring the enduring partnership between the Philippines and the United States. 

She emphasized the connection between the two nations, stating, “I think the partnership between the Philippines and the United States is so strong, especially our military.”

Lacuna highlighted the significance of remembering the historical momentousness of the Battle for Manila, honoring the over 100,000 Filipinos who lost their lives in the conflict.

“Ito po ay aming pagdiriwang para isang paalala sa ating kapwa pilipino ng kahalagahan ng nangyari dito sa Manila battle for Manila nung Pebrero, 79 years ago. So ito po, binigyang pagpapahalaga ang mahigit 100,000 Pilipinong namatay dahil sa digmaan,” Lacuna said.
