MANILA - The Manila City Council on Friday declared militant group Panday Sining 'persona non grata' in the capital, days after it took responsibility for defacing walls and infrastructure in the capital.

In a Facebook post, the Manila Public Information Office announced the city council passed a resolution banning the militant group from entering the city.

Four of their members, aged between 18 and 24, were earlier arrested for vandalizing with spray paint the Quezon Bridge in Quiapo, Manila, which was recently repainted as part of the local government's efforts to spruce up the Philippine capital.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who has been pursuing vigorous cleanup of the city since the start of his administration, earlier warned those responsible for the vandalism that he would make them "lick" the wall they defaced if they were caught.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Wednesday ordered police to go after vandals in Metro Manila, because they have been showing "utter disregard of the law and defacement of government properties."

"Imbes na tumigil, tuloy pa rin sila sa pagsasalaula nila sa kapaligiran. Hindi na sila nakikinig sa awtoridad. Sobra na," he said.

(Instead of stopping, they continue to deface the environment. They no longer listen to authorities. It's too much.)
