Vandals have defaced the Quezon Bridge in Quiapo, Manila, which was recently repainted as part of the local government's efforts to spruce up the Philippine capital.

The bridge connecting Quiapo and Lawton districts used to be maroon, with parts of it appearing almost brown due to soot, before it was repainted white.

The structure, however, was spray-painted in red with phrases calling for President Rodrigo Duterte's ouster, a boycott against a firm, and a stop to killings, as seen in a video shared by a concerned citizen who requested to be identified only as "Nick."

"Sayang, nag-e-effort ang Mayor, 'di na nga natutulog," he said, referring to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who is known to patrol the city during wee hours, on the lookout against illegal structures and violations.
