MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he has found a replacement for former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go, who is seeking a Senate seat in the 2019 midterm elections.

Duterte named police Senior Insp. Sofia Loren Deliu, his security officer, as Go’s “replacement.”

“Ang pumalit kay Bong, tumindig ka nga (stand up). Hindi ikaw, ikaw, ikaw (Not you, you, you),” Duterte said, referring to Deliu.

Go said while Deliu has been tapped as his replacement as the President's aide, the latter will not assume his role as SAP, which is a Cabinet post.

“As aide si Deliu, meaning as close-in siya na kasama,” Go said in a text message.

(Deliu will serve as aide, meaning she's with the President as a close-in assistant.)

Go had to resign from his post as he is running for the Senate in next year’s midterm polls.

It was earlier reported that lawyer Charmalou Aldevera, legal counsel of Duterte’s friend Apollo Quiboloy, was being considered for the post.

Deliu, Duterte's security aide, is a former beauty queen. The half-Filipina, half-Romanian officer placed 15th in the Miss Philippines-Earth beauty pageant in 2015.

Duterte also stood as godfather when Deliu wed Insp. Abdul-Bassar Abdurajak in March.
