MANILA- Authorities retrieved Monday the flight data recorder from the small plane that crashed Sunday in Calamba City, Laguna, that killed at least 9 people.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines investigators found the flight recorder, or "black box" in the plane's rubble.

The black box is crucial to explaining what went wrong with the plane, which crashed into a resort.

King AIR 350, an 11-seater medical evacuation plane with registration number RP-C2296, was on its way back to Manila from Dipolog City, when it crashed.
