MAYNILA - Tumangging magbigay ng pahayag ang Malacañang nitong Biyernes sa utos ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Cebu hinggil sa hindi na pagsusuot ng face mask sa probinsya.

Naglabas ng Executive Order si Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia na nagsasabing hindi na requirement ang pagsusuot ng face mask sa open spaces at mga lugar na may maayos na bentilasyon.

"We defer to DOH (Department of Health)," sabi ni acting Palace spokesperson Martin Andanar sa isang text message.

Nauna nang tumugon ang DOH sa isyu at sinabing mandatory pa rin ang pagsusuot ng face mask alinsunod sa panuntunang inilabas ng Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“Current IATF protocols allow only for specific instances when masks can be taken off, such as when eating or during certain well-ventilated sports and activities,” sabi ng DOH sa isang pahayag.

Sinabi rin ni Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergiere sa isang panayam, hindi kinunsulta ng Cebu government ang COVID-19 task force bago nagbaba ng nasabing EO.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Interior Secretary Eduardo Año nitong Biyernes nang umaga na hindi nila kinikilala ang EO na ibinaba ni Garcia, at nangakong mapaparusahan ang mga taga-Cebu na hindi sumusunod sa health protocols.
