MANILA - Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has cautioned against believing Peter Advincula's claims that the Liberal Party and Sen. Antonio Trillanes are behind an ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
"Let us not be hasty in giving credence to what he is saying. From what I heard and read, he has been lying at every turn. His motive? Of course, to save himself! Let him substantiate what he is saying," Lorenzana told reporters.
Advincula, who claims to be the hooded-figure "Bikoy" who linked Duterte's family to the illegal drug trade, surrendered to the police on Thursday and said his previous allegations were all lies supposedly orchestrated by the LP and Trillanes.
Advincula claimed he was promised P500,000 to appear in the videos, but the money did not come through.
The Liberal Party and Trillanes have denied Advincula's allegations, saying they are considering filing charges against him.
The opposition party has several times been tagged behind moves to overthrow the President, but Lorenzana has consistently said the military had no such information.
