MANILA (2nd UPDATE)—The proclamation of winning senators and party-list groups on Sunday will not push through, the Commission on Elections said Saturday.

Frances Arabe, director of the Comelec's education and information department, said the body has yet to finish canvassing votes.

"For the schedule of proclamation, hindi po tuloy 'yung bukas na in-announce kahapon (the schedule announced Friday will not push through). We are not ready to proclaim yet so the schedule will be announced. Depends if we will be able to finish all the COCs (certificates of canvass) tomorrow (Sunday)," she told reporters.

Meanwhile, the Comelec en banc is likely to come up with a decision soon on the petitions of several groups to suspend canvassing.

The poll body, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, has finished tabulating 149 out of 167 COCs.

The board has yet to tabulate COCs from Lanao del Sur, Isabela, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Washington DC PE, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

In a resolution, the Comelec en banc directed the municipal board of canvassers in Jones town, Isabela and San Pablo town, Zamboanga del Sur to lower the threshold of votes after armed men destroyed ballots in the said towns.

The latest tally of the winning senators and party-list representatives was expected before the board adjourned its canvassing Saturday night.

As of Saturday night, senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe topped the Comelec's partial and official tally with 24,199,174 and 21,183,332 votes, respectively.

Nancy Binay completed the "Magic 12" with 13,784,692 votes.
