MANILA - The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sunday said it is verifying Xian Gaza's claims he was able to sneak out of the country despite having three warrants of arrest.

DOJ spokesperson Undersecretary Markk Perete told ABS-CBN News they are verifying Gaza's claims and have asked the Bureau of Immigration to investigate.

In a post on his Facebook page Sunday, Gaza narrated how he was able to leave the country on September 30, 2018.

According to Gaza, he bought tickets to three separate flights, one bound for Singapore, another for Taipei and another bound for Hong Kong. He checked in online for his two decoy flights and waited for the check in counters to close before he checked in for his flight to Hong Kong.

He then narrated he was able to pass through immigration officials since there was no hold departure order issued against him.

Gaza also said he is now working on getting a new identity and new citizenship in a Latin American country.

Gaza was arrested on April 12, 2018 over an investment scam, or for violating the Anti-Bouncing Checks Law. He was released on bail a day later.
