MANILA -- Former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup took to social media hours after the announcement of her role as national director of the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization.

In an Instagram post, Supsup said she is "honored with my new role for the organization that brought meaning to my life as a beauty queen and as a woman."

Supsup previously competed in Miss Universe 2011, finishing third runner-up to Leila Lopes of Angola. She is also a licensed architect, a host, and a restaurant owner.

On Monday, MUP announced that Supsup will join familiar names in the local pageant scene such as Jonas Gaffud and Albert Andrada in leading the organization.
