MANILA -- After 55 years, Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) will no longer be sending representatives to Miss Universe.

This as the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) "has decided not to renew its license with BPCI," as confirmed by the latter in a statement released Tuesday.

"Moving forward, BPCI will continue to focus on its charitable initiatives and the staging of the annual Binibining Pilipinas pageant," read the statement, which was released on the Bb. Pilipinas Facebook page.

BPCI also looked back on its milestones as the holder of the Miss Universe franchise in the Philippines since 1964.

"In all those years, we have garnered four Miss Universe winners, nine runners-up, and ten top 20 finishes," said the organization, which also listed the titles and placements of its beauty queens in other international pageants.

Gazini Ganados is the last candidate to compete in Miss Universe under BPCI. She finished in the Top 20 and won best in national costume.

While the Miss Universe franchise is no longer with BPCI, it still has ties with other international competitions -- Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Globe.

On Monday, the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization announced that former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup is its new national director.

MUP added that starting next year, it will send Philippine representatives to Miss Universe.
