MANILA (UPDATED) — The Bureau of Immigration said American citizen Lee O’Brian, the former partner of actress Pokwang or Marietta Subong, was  deported last April 8.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said O’Brian was deported via a Philippine Airlines flight to San Francisco after confirmation that he has no pending local case in the Philippines.

The BI noted that Subong filed a deportation case against her former partner for working in the Philippines without proper permits.

The BI found merit in the complaint and ordered O’Brian deported in December.

O’Brian, however, filed for a motion for reconsideration but it was denied by the bureau.

“As a consequence of his deportation, his name has been included in the BI’s blacklist, barring any future attempts to re-enter the country,” the BI said.

Meanwhile, Subong's legal counsel Ralph Calinisan posted on X his reaction upon learning of the deportation.

"Hindi namin maitago ang aming kaligayahan sa balitang deported na si Lee O'Brian. Tunay na umaandar ang hustisya sa Pilipinas. Nagpapasalamat kmi sa BI. Bawal ang mga babaero at mapang-aping dayuhan sa ating bansa. The PH is, as it should be, for the true welfare of the Filipino," he said.

Pokwang has yet to issue a statement regarding O'Brian's deportation.
