Some of the biggest and brightest Asian stars, actors, directors, filmmakers and influencers gathered at the 17th Asian Film Awards (AFA) in Hong Kong on Sunday night.

Among them were Filipino actress-singer Janella Salvador and Thai actor Win Metawin, the stars of the upcoming movie "Under Parallel Skies."

AFA will also host the world premiere of the movie, for which executive producer Richard Juan expressed his gratitude to the award-giving body.

"I'm very grateful to Asian Film Awards for believing in our project and they see the value of what we want to achieve here. We wanted to create a film that will resonate with people around the world and showcase that Southeast Asians can create really good films," said Juan.

This is Metawin's first project with a Filipino production, as he worked with Salvador as his co-star and director Sigrid Bernardo.

"I think our movie has everything in it - drama, comedy, romance. Everyone should watch it," said Metawin, who also received the "Rising Star" award from the AFA. "I am so excited for tonight. It's my first time here and I'm very honored to be here."

For the event, Salvador wore a Mark Bumgarner creation and was styled by Perry Tabora, with hair and make-up by Cielo Medved and Ezekiel Otilla.

Also spotted at the red carpet were Hong Kong's Tony Leung, actress-singer Charlene Choi, model Kenji Fan, and Thai actor Mario Maurer who was hailed as the youth ambassador of AFA17.

"I think it's a great opportunity for me to promote Asian films because Asian films are something that's very special. And I'm very proud to be Asian and to be in Asian films," said Maurer, who added that he is looking forward to making a movie again in the Philippines soon.
