Following the introductions and pleasantries came the signs --signs that this season's "Pinoy Big Brother" is going to be filled with even more challenges to bring out the best of its housemates than any other before it.

Setting the tone was the reveal that the first four "Star Dreamers" will have to battle it out in a challenge for a single spot as one of the housemates for "PBB: Otso." No, they're not all going to get in --at least not for now.

In the end, these four got in. Two by being the best at the respective tasks that they were given; another voted in by a "council" comprised of previous housemates; and the last by wooing public votes.

If anything, the first half of the "grand kick-off" signals a very exciting season --one with more twists and turns that's going to put these teens on trial, to determine who among them is worth being named the next "big winner."
