MANILA -- The ex-wife of Mark Anthony Fernandez expressed her support to the actor, days after he was arrested in Angeles City for possession of illegal drugs.

In a Facebook post, Melissa Garcia said she is sorry for not being beside Fernandez, whom she claims to have been a good father to his children.

She also encouraged him to never lose hope because God will not forsake him.

Garcia is the mother of Fernandez' eldest son, Grae, who is now a young actor in ABS-CBN. They got married in 2006, and has separated in 2014 for undisclosed reasons.

Grae also expressed support for his father through social media. In a Twitter post, he wrote: "No matter what people say about you,I will always be proud to be your son because you're the best dad! #markanthonyfernandez."

On Monday, a kilo of marijuana was found inside Fernandez' car. He denied, however, that it belongs to him, claiming that perhaps it was only planted in his car.

"Gusto ko lang po i-clarify 'yung nasa report po. Hindi po akin 'yun, ang dala lang po ounce. Tapos nung natigil po ako, may naglagay po sa kotse ko nung isang kilo [I just want to clarify, it's not mine. I only had an ounce. But when I was intercepted at the checkpoint, somebody placed a kilo of marijuana]," he said.

Police said that Fernandez, who voluntarily entered a drug rehabilitation center in 2004 before making a showbiz comeback six months later, may face charges for violating of sections 5, 11 and 15 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

On Tuesday, his mother, former Parañaque City councilor and actress Alma Moreno paid him a visit at Station 6 of the Angeles City Police.
