ANGELES CITY - Actress Alma Moreno visited her son, former matinee idol Mark Anthony Fernandez, in jail Wednesday evening.

Mark Anthony was caught in possession of a kilo of marijuana on Monday, and is facing possible non-bailable charges. The former "Gwapings" star is currently detained at Station 6 of the Angeles City Police.

According to a report from ABS-CBN News' Gracie Rutao, Moreno spent two hours with Mark Anthony, her son with the late actor Rudy Fernandez. Moreno declined to grant a media interview.

Moreno was earlier said to have been given sedatives after her blood pressure shot up because of Mark Anthony's arrest. She was advised to avoid visiting her son so as to not attract any media attention.

Mark Anthony, who voluntarily entered a drug rehabilitation center in 2004 before making a showbiz comeback six months later, has admitted to using marijuana, allegedly "to prevent cancer".

He was presented to the media Tuesday afternoon where he gave conflicting statements regarding the illegal substance found in his car. He earlier said that he bought it for P15,000, but backtracked and later claimed that it was planted.

Lorna Tolentino, his stepmother, raised concerns over possible human rights violations when he was questioned by the police in front of reporters without a legal counsel.
