Angel Locsin is proud of what she accomplished in 'The General's Daughter' --proving that she can do action roles once again after a back injury placed her future in the genre into doubt. Michael Bagtas, ABS-CBN News

For Angel Locsin, it's mission accomplished.

No, she's not talking about her character Rhian, who's still looking to put a stop to Tiago (Tirso Cruz III) and his plan to blow up the country as the show races towards its finale next week.

She was referring to taking on action roles again and proving that she still has plenty to offer the genre --a once undeniable "fact," as fans would argue, before a back injury threw that into doubt.

"Na-prove ko naman na kaya ko pa," Locsin said Thursday. "Ito iyong sinasabi nila na ...kung ano man iyong kayang gawin ng kalalakihan, kaya rin gawin ng mga kababaihan."

This enthusiasm of hers comes with the success of "The General's Daughter," one of the few shows to boast that it had beaten Coco Martin and "Ang Probinsyano" in terms of primetime ratings.

Impressive stunts done by Locsin herself, coupled with surprising twists and a brilliant cast, made the teleserye staple viewing since it debuted January.

This begs the question: why is it down to its final week? Under usual circumstances, the show would have been extended.

According to Dreamscape head Deo Endrinal --the person whom Locsin is extremely grateful towards to because of the trust he gave her for the role of Rhian-- it is the "right time" to end it.

"Iyong kuwento po kasi hindi naman nating gusto palaylayin natin. Mas gusto po ng team and management na, 'Let's end this at the right time, na magtatapos siya sa length nung kuwento na nararapat para sa kanya," the TV executive explained.

It was revealed that the ending had been planned a month ago.

Locsin also said that she will be taking short break from acting to better prepare for her upcoming wedding with Neil Arce.

Though she quickly clarified that she is in no way quitting. She shared that she is still set to do four movies with Star Cinema, although she refused to discuss them as she does not like talking about her projects that have yet to begin shooting.

Locsin led the cast who graced a press conference held at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN for the finale of the show.
