MANILA — Actor Gerald Anderson said he tried to reach out to Bea Alonzo after rumors surrounding their relationship surfaced last month.

"Noong lumabas na at medyo lumaki siya, you know, I tried to reach out through our manager and personally but you know, siyempre, I respect that she didn't respond," Anderson told ABS-CBN News on Monday.

"I respect that she wanted no communication. It hasn't been easy. Alam ko it hasn't been easy for her also," he added.

Anderson's relationship with Alonzo has been the subject of rumors for the past weeks after the actress hinted at infidelity through a cryptic Instagram post.

Julia Barretto, Anderson's leading lady in his latest film "Between Maybes," was speculated to be the cause of the breakup.

Anderson, however, cleared Barretto as the cause of the separation, saying: "No one else was the reason, the cause of the breakup."

Anderson said he and Alonzo had a "big fight" a month ago, even before rumors about their relationship broke out, and have not talked since.

"Actually bago pa nangyari 'yong issue or pumutok 'yong issue, we had no communication," he said.

In an earlier interview, Alonzo said that to her understanding, she and Anderson had not broken up but the actor "just started not talking" to her.
