MANILA—It appears Joshua Garcia is no longer "mute."
Whatever he meant by that cryptic Instagram Stories post of his matters little now after it was revealed that he broke his silence by sending Julia Barretto some encouraging words Wednesday, amid the fresh controversy hounding his former girlfriend.
Shared by Barretto herself, the message read: "Malalampasan mo yan. I know you, you're the strongest girl na nakilala ko. Takot nga ako sayo eh," punctuated by a smiley.
Garcia added, confusingly: "Baba car now."
"Baba" is the known nickname Garcia calls Barretto by, although it remains unclear what exactly he meant by his last remark.
Responding to this, Barretto wrote: "This guy knows how to find humor in everything."

It was over the past weekend when Barretto was dragged into a controversy claiming that Gerald Anderson had been cheating on his girlfriend Bea Alonzo with her. Since then, she has turned off the comments section of all of her Instagram posts and said that she can't wait for her "next beach trip."
This was further fanned by Alonzo when she began liking posts on Instagram hinting at infidelity.
Barretto's mother, Marjorie, has already bared her plans to take legal action on the person who started the rumors by sharing a photo of her daughter together with Anderson at a party.
Barretto, Anderson, and Alonzo have yet to release statements to addressing the rumors that surfaced this weekend.
Barretto and Garcia first revealed their breakup last June, saying that they have decided to return to being "best friends."
In the same interview, Barretto denied the allegation linking her and Anderson together romantically while filming their first movie together, "Between Maybes."
