MANILA — Ria Atayde reported that her parents, Sylvia Sanchez and Art Atayde, “seem to be getting better,” hours after it was revealed that the couple was diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19).

“We’re all doing okay actually,” Ria told ABS-CBN News’ Gretchen Fullido via a text message. “Mom and dad seem to be getting better as the days come along. Slowly but they’re getting there.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Sanchez herself revealed that she and her husband were tested for the virus on March 24. They were brought to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, and then self-isolated in their home.

According to Ria, no one else in her parents’ household has exhibited symptoms of the coronavirus so far, but they are continually taking it “a day it a time” with regards to monitoring the situation.

Sanchez is the third celebrity to test positive for the novel coronavirus after Christopher de Leon and Iza Calzado.

De Leon has since been discharged from the hospital, while Calzado is now free from the virus.
