MANILA - The Filinvest group on Thursday said it is donating P100 million worth of COVID-19 test kits and personal protective equipment to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine for medical workers and other frontliners.

”We will also provide more COVID-19 test kits that will enable these institutions to accelerate their testing effort to help contain the spread,” said Josephine Gotianun Yap, Filinvest Development Corp president and CEO.

Filinvest Lifemalls in Metro Manila, including Festival Supermall in Alabang, is also waiving rent for qualified non-operational tenants during the lockdown period.

The five supermarkets located in Filinvest city as well as medical and food delivery tenants remain open to serve the community, the group said.

Filinvest Land meanwhile is offering a 30-day payment extension for its Pabahay, Futura and Aspire customers who were affected by the Luzon-wide community quarantine.

The Gotianun-led group's banking unit, EastWest Bank, is also giving a 30-day extension on the payment due dates of eligible customers for auto, personal, mortgage, and credit cards.

Some of the Philippine largest business groups have announced they would help in efforts to contain COVID-19 and help mitigate the economic impact of the oubreak on employees and part-businesses.
