Rumors of a possible title-unification bout between world super bantamweight champions Jerwin Ancajas and Khalid Yafai could turn Jonas Sultan into a more motivated, hence more dangerous, opponent for Ancajas, according to fight analyst Dennis Principe.

Ancajas has yet to defend his crown in the all-Filipino title fight with Sultan, yet this early the former is being groomed as the next opponent for Yafai, the champion from Great Britain.

Dismissing Sultan may not be the best attitude to have.

“Parang ang nangyayari tini-treat na mandatory challenger si Sultan, kundi tuneup,” Principe said, adding that this could add fire up Sultan.

“That will make Sultan a more dangerous opponent,” Principe added. “Alam mo human nature para sa isang tao kapag minamaliit, lalong tumatapang lalong nagiging mas determined. It may lead to Sultan's advantage.”

Ancajas will take on Sultan on May 26 in Fresno, which is located between Los Angeles and San Francisco, two major cities that are home to thousands of Pinoy immigrants.

The bout was initially slated to take place in Las Vegas, but his coach Joven Jimenez said the fight was moved to accommodate more Filipino fans.
