The boxing manager-coach of world junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas has confirmed that the venue of the champion's title defense against Jonas "Zorro" Sultan has been changed.

According to Joven Jimenez, the first all-Filipino title bout in 93 years will take place in Fresno, California instead of Las Vegas.

"'Yung laban ni Jerwin inilipat sa Selland Arena sa Fresno, Califonia. Binago po nila ang venue; hindi na sa Las Vegas," Jimenez said.

The boxing trainer said Top Rank Inc., which promotes Ancajas' bouts in the US, is apparently focusing on the Filipino market in California.

He said Ancajas doesn't mind the change of venue since it will give more Filipinos a better chance of watching the fight live.

"Mas maganda daw kasi maraming makapanood. Mas madami daw Pinoy kasi doon," Jimenez said.

Top Rank's Bob Arum plans to promote more of Ancajas in the coming years.

"He is a champion and he will be defending his title against Sultan, the other Filipino, on May 26th in Fresno, California... I hope that he will have a total of 4 this year for championships fights and for next year,” Arum said in an interview with ABS-CBN North America News Bureau's Bev Llorente.
