MANILA -- The historic fight now has a date.

The anticipated world junior bantamweight title clash between reigning champion Jerwin Ancajas and challenger Jonas Sultan will take place on May 26.

“Yes, it's confirmed: May 26 in Las Vegas. The historical fight will be the main event,” Sultan’s promoter Michael Aldeguer of ALA Boxing told ABS-CBN News via text message.

The Ancajas-Sultan bout will be the first all-Filipino title clash in nearly 100 years.

It was to be featured on the undercard of the Jeffery Horn-Terence Crawford bout that was scrapped after Crawford reportedly got injured during training.

Sultan earned a mandatory-opponent status after pulling off a unanimous decision upset against former 2-division world champion Johnriel Casimero last September.

It will be Ancajas's second US fight since stopping Israel Gonzalez to defend his junior bantamweight crown last February.
