MANILA - The dean of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Faculty of Civil Law on Thursday urged to come forward all those with information on the death of law student Horacio Castillo III after an alleged hazing.

"I reiterate my call to all those who may have participated in or who may have any information about the incidents leading to the death of Acio to please come forward and cooperate with the authorities," UST Law Dean Nilo Divina said in a statement.

"Silence only serves to frustrate the ends of justice. To keep silent at this is to be complicit."

Castillo's bloodied body covered in linen was found on a sidewalk in Balut, Tondo on Sunday, hours after he left home for the welcome rites of the Aegis Jvris fraternity at the UST campus late Saturday.

He was rushed to the Chinese General Hospital (CGH) but was declared dead upon arrival. His parents learned of his death before dawn on Monday.

Police have named 3 suspects in the case: John Paul Solano, who claimed finding Castillo's body; Antonio Trangia, who owns the vehicle that brought the victim to CGH; and Trangia's son Ralph, an Aegis Jvris official.

Ralph left the country Tuesday dawn, according to the Bureau of Immigration.

Divina urged those involved in Castillo's death to "own up" to their mistake.

"Speak the truth, explain yourself in the proper forum, face up to the consequences of your actions, then start the process of reconciliation and healing," he said.

"This is the right way. It is the only way. Hiding the truth will never give you peace. Truth will set you free."

Divina himself is a member of the Aegis Jvris. He said he has not participated in the fraternity's activities since he has assumed deanship.
